Trading involves risk — and this is not gambling

Prediction markets are CFTC-regulated event contracts: financial/derivatives products, not sportsbook bets or daily fantasy. You can lose money, including your entire stake. Nothing here is investment advice. Event contracts are for adults 18+; KYC and state-availability rules apply and can change. We do not show responsible-gambling notices on these pages because they are the wrong legal framing — these are traded financial instruments.

What are prediction markets?

A prediction market lets you trade Yes/No event contracts on real-world outcomes — an economic release, an election, a sports result, a cultural milestone. Each contract is priced between 1¢ and 99¢, and that price is the market’s implied probability of the event happening. Buy Yes at 60¢ and you pay 60¢ for a contract that settles at $1 if the event occurs and $0 if it does not. Your maximum loss is what you paid; your maximum gain is $1 per contract minus your cost.

The platforms we cover offer these contracts under CFTC regulation — they are financial/derivatives products, which is a fundamentally different legal animal from the daily-fantasy and sportsbook products on the rest of this site. That is why this section uses a trading-risk disclosure (not a responsible-gambling notice), an 18+ age line, and the language of event contracts and trading rather than bets.

How we verify

Every review in this section is grounded in each platform's published documentation, regulatory filings and program terms, verified in June 2026 — not second-hand screenshots or marketing copy. As a US-based (Florida) operation we can legally open accounts on the CFTC-regulated platforms, and a first-hand trading pass — registration, funding, live trades and settlement — is in progress; reviews will be updated as those results land. Where a figure is a verified-but-changeable offer, we flag it and tell you to confirm current terms, because terms in this vertical move quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are prediction markets and event contracts?
Prediction markets let you trade Yes/No contracts on real-world outcomes — economic data, elections, sports results, culture. A contract priced at 60¢ implies the market thinks there is roughly a 60% chance the event happens; it settles at $1 if it does and $0 if it does not. The US platforms we cover offer CFTC-regulated event contracts, which are financial/derivatives products rather than gambling.
Are prediction markets legal in the US?
The CFTC-regulated event-contract platforms we cover (Polymarket via QCEX, DraftKings Predictions, Kalshi, and Robinhood’s events routed through regulated exchanges) are generally legal across most US states for adults 18+ with KYC. Availability varies by state and by contract type, and sports contracts specifically face state-level legal challenges. Always confirm your state before funding.
How are prediction markets different from DFS or sportsbooks?
Daily fantasy sports and sportsbooks are state-licensed gambling products, often 21+, and carry responsible-gambling notices. Prediction markets are CFTC-regulated financial/derivatives products — event contracts, not bets — typically available to adults 18+. The legal framing, the disclosures and the regulator are all different, which is why we keep this section separate from our DFS pages.
Which prediction-market platform is best?
It depends on what you want. Polymarket is our lead pick for depth and breadth after its 2025–26 US return via CFTC-regulated QCEX. DraftKings Predictions is the easiest on-ramp for existing DFS players. Kalshi is the most clearly-regulated exchange with the deepest non-sports markets. Robinhood is best if you want event contracts alongside investing in one familiar app.
Can I lose money trading event contracts?
Yes. Event contracts are financial products and every contract can settle at zero. Unlike a DFS deposit match with a defined rollover, there is no protected floor. Trade only with risk capital you can afford to lose. Nothing on these pages is investment advice.
How often do you verify these platforms?
We re-check each platform’s program type, sign-up terms and state availability regularly — the stamp on each page shows the last verification date, currently August 8, 2026. Terms and availability in this vertical move quickly (especially around sports contracts and state rules), so always confirm current terms on the platform’s own site.
