How to Cancel or Edit a Polymarket Order (US 2026)

A limit still sitting on the book. Cancel it, replace it, or leave it — not a filled ticket you already own, and not a sportsbook void.

By Scott · Last verified August 8, 2026

Trading involves risk — a cancel is not a floor

Polymarket offers CFTC-regulated event contracts: financial/derivatives products, not sportsbook bets and not daily fantasy. You can lose money, including your entire stake. Canceling unfilled size is not a save on a fill you already own, and a fill can still settle at zero. Nothing on this page is investment advice. For adults 18+ with KYC. Sports markets are the most contested category; state availability can change. DFS pages on this site use a separate 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame — do not mix the two.

Advertising disclosure: the claim button is an affiliate link. We may earn a commission if you sign up through it, at no extra cost to you. That never changes our ratings, and it is not a user bonus.

Who this guide is for

US adults who already have a limit sitting on the book and need to cancel it, change the price or size, or tell that apart from selling a fill. This is not how to place a limit order, not how to sell a ticket early, not how to cash out, not how to buy your first NFL ticket, not how fees work, and not how to read a spread or total. Those pages are the resting bid, the exchange exit, the bank off-ramp, the first swipe, the cost stack, and the printed number. This page is the working order: where it lives on web versus mobile, cancel versus edit versus sell, what happens to USDC or cash, and what a partial fill leaves behind. Then we link out. Polymarket is the only live outbound on this page.

Cancel, edit, or sell — three different actions

Official Orders & Trading splits a resting limit from a position. Official Limit Orders help is the retail cancel. Official Can I sell early? is the filled-ticket exit. Do not mash them into one button. See prediction markets vs sportsbooks if you are looking for a house void. There isn’t one.

Cancel an open order

Unfilled size on the book

Official Orders & Trading: a limit sits until someone trades against it or you cancel it. Official Limit Orders help: the resting clip is shown just below the Order Book on that market’s page; cancel is the red x alongside the order. Official Fee Schedule FAQ: a canceled, expired, or rejected order is not charged — fees apply only when a trade executes. Canceling unfilled size is not selling a ticket you already own.

Change price or size (“edit”)

Cancel-replace — not a filled ticket

Official US Orders API documents a modify that the exchange treats as a cancel-replace. Official retail Limit Orders help and Official Place a Trade do not name an Edit button on the swipe. We will not invent one. The published retail path is: cancel the open remainder, then place a new order at the new price or size. A fill that already matched is a position — you cannot rewrite that ticket the same way.

Sell a filled share

A later page — you already own it

Official “Can I sell early?” and Official Orders & Trading: once the order has matched, you hold a Yes/No. Closing it is the opposite trade (sell Yes to close a long; buy Yes back to close a short), paid at the bid the book will take. That is not a cancel. Bid versus ask, sleepy books, and slippage live on How to sell a Polymarket ticket early. This page stops at the resting order.

Official US + help docs · no invented Edit tab · cancel ≠ sell

Where open orders live — web versus mobile

Hard rule: if official help names a screen, we name it. If the US app pages do not reprint that label, we say so. Official Website vs App splits the international site from the US desk.

On the market page (web)

Official Limit Orders help

Official Limit Orders help: when you have an open order, it is displayed just below the Order Book on that market’s page. That is the same screen as the book you posted into — not Portfolio, and not a filled Yes/No card. Confirm the live ticket. We do not reprint a live bid or ask under that clip.

Portfolio — Open orders (web, multi-market)

Official Limit Orders help

Official Limit Orders help: if you have open orders across more than one market, manage them from the Portfolio page’s Open orders view (polymarket.com/portfolio?tab=Open+orders). That tab is working orders — pending or partially filled size still on the book. Official US Monitor Your Positions describes a different Portfolio: cash, open positions you already hold, average entry, and current market value. Do not treat those two lists as the same row.

US app / mobile

Confirm the live screen

Official Website vs App: US residents deposit and trade in the Polymarket US app, not on the international website. Official Place a Trade: after a swipe, open the Portfolio tab to track the position. Official Monitor Your Positions names cash and open positions — it does not reprint the international “Open orders” tab label. We will not invent a mobile button the US pages do not print. Find the working order on the market you posted, or in Portfolio, and cancel the unfilled remainder there. The phone path is How to use Polymarket on mobile — this page does not clone it.

What happens to USDC — and to US cash — when you cancel

Official Check Your Balance is the US fiat desk. Official international help is USDC collateral. They are not the same rail. Neither is a bank deposit.

Unfilled size is not a trade

Official Fee Schedule FAQ

Official Fee Schedule: fees are deducted when a trade executes. Canceled, expired, or rejected orders are not charged. Official Order Types: leftover size that never matched is still an open order, not a fill. Canceling that remainder does not create a sale, a settlement, or a bank credit.

US desk — cash / buying power

Official Check Your Balance

Official Check Your Balance: cash is the money not tied to an open position; you can trade it or withdraw it. Official Orders & Trading: buying power is the cash available to open new positions, and it falls when you buy contracts. A resting buy that has not filled is not yet a position. After you cancel the open remainder, that reserved buying power is no longer sitting on the book. Official US pages do not print a minutes-to-unlock clock. We will not invent one. Withdrawing that cash is How to cash out on Polymarket — a later step, and only after the funding deposit has fully cleared.

International desk — USDC / pUSD collateral

Not a US wallet send

Official “What is Polymarket?” (international help): Yes/No pairs are fully collateralized in USDC. Official April 28, 2026 exchange-upgrade help: the international book migrated from USDC.e to pUSD, an ERC-20 on Polygon backed 1:1 by USDC. Official Website vs App: that crypto product is not the US (QCEX) fiat desk. Official retail help does not print a cancel-gas figure or a “USDC returns in X seconds” line. We will not invent either. Canceling unfilled size releases reserved collateral back to your available international balance — it is not a bank wire, and it is not the US cash-out how-to.

Official docs · no invented unlock minutes · cancel is not a withdraw

Partial fills — cancel the rest, keep the fill

Official Order Types: if there is not enough size at your price, you receive a partial fill and the unfilled portion stays on the book as an open order until it is filled or canceled. Official Orders & Trading names that middle state Partially filled. The contracts that already matched are a position. Canceling the remainder does not sell them, does not rewrite the fill price, and does not return the dollars that already executed.

Official Order Types illustrates the leftover with a teaching book ($0.52 ask, 1,000-lot clip). That is a docs example, not tonight’s NFL board. We do not reprint a live last print. If you want the filled shares off the book, that is How to sell a Polymarket ticket early — a second action, at the bid.

The cancel-or-replace sequence

  1. Step 1

Confirm it is still an open order — not a filled Yes/No you already own

Official Orders & Trading lifecycle: Pending, then Open, Partially filled, Filled, or Canceled / Expired / Rejected. Official Order Types: leftover size can rest as an open order. Official Monitor Your Positions: a filled ticket is an open position with average entry and current market value. If the clip already matched, cancel will not rewrite it — that exit is How to sell a Polymarket ticket early. If you have not yet placed a limit, use How to place a limit order. This page assumes size is already sitting on the book.

  2. Step 2

Find the working order — market page, Portfolio, or the US app

Official Limit Orders help: the resting order sits just below the Order Book on that market’s page; across several markets, use Portfolio → Open orders. Official US Place a Trade: open the Portfolio tab after you swipe. Official Website vs App: US residents trade in the app, not on polymarket.com. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint the international “Open orders” tab name — confirm the live screen instead of hunting for a label we invent. Sports markets on the international help page auto-cancel outstanding limits when the game starts; game times can shift, so check the book yourself.

  3. Step 3

Cancel the unfilled remainder — or stop if it has already filled

Official Limit Orders help: cancel is the red x alongside the open order on the market page. Official US Place a Trade does not name that control on the first-buy swipe — if the US app shows a different cancel control, use the one on the working-order row, not a guess. Official Fee Schedule: no fee on a cancel. A publisher link is how this site is supported — it is not extra credit in your account. If the status is already Filled, you are holding a ticket, not an order.

  4. Step 4

If you meant to change price or size — cancel, then place a new order

Official US Orders API: modify is a cancel-replace. Official retail Limit Orders help and Official Place a Trade do not name an Edit field on the swipe. We will not invent one. Cancel the open remainder, then post a new limit at the price and size you still want. Official Order Types: a new clip can still partial-fill; leftover can rest again. How to place a limit order is the set-a-price walkthrough — this page does not repeat bid versus ask.

  5. Step 5

Treat released cash or USDC as buying power on the exchange — then stop

Official Check Your Balance: cash is not a bank deposit. Official international help: collateral is USDC (pUSD after the April 2026 upgrade), not a debit-card credit. Official Fee Schedule: the cancel itself is not a trading fee. Selling a fill, reading the fee formula, and withdrawing to debit / ACH / wire live on their own pages. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Nothing here is investment advice.

Fees — cancel is published as free until a fill

Official Fee Schedule FAQ: fees are deducted when a trade executes; canceled, expired, or rejected orders are not charged. That is the cancel line we can confirm. We will not invent a “cancel fee,” a USDC gas number, or a second schedule for edit-versus-cancel. The published split is still taker versus maker on a fill — theta 0.06 versus a −0.0125 rebate, both as Θ × C × p × (1 − p). The deep formula is How Polymarket fees work (US). This page does not clone it.

Official US Orders API documents modify as a cancel-replace. That is an API fact, not a retail button we will name on the swipe. If the live ticket later shows a change-price control, use that control — we still will not guess its label here.

Blocked and contested states

Reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. If you are in a listed state, do not leave size on the book on the assumption the desk is open. If you are in Florida or another green-light state, still confirm the working order appears and still accepts a cancel before you treat the remainder as yours.

Age is 18+ with identity verification. That is a different gate from the 21+ / responsible-gambling frame on our DFS pages, because these are traded financial instruments. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those lineup-void rules do not carry over. Compare platforms on the prediction-markets hub.

What you will not get from this page

A dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, a live NFL bid or ask, an invented retail Edit button, a published cancel-gas or unlock-minute clock we could not find, a cloned limit-order / sell-early / cash-out / first-ticket / fees / spread-or-total walkthrough, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — an open order is unfilled size on the book, cancel is the published retail path (red x on the international help page), “edit” is cancel-then-replace unless the live ticket shows a modify we will not invent, a filled share is a different action, canceled size is not a fee, USDC is the international collateral rail, and US cash-out is a later step. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel an open Polymarket order?
Official Limit Orders help: open the market and find the resting order just below the Order Book, then use the red x alongside that row. Across several markets, Official help points at Portfolio → Open orders. Official Orders & Trading: a limit stays until it fills or you cancel. Official Fee Schedule: canceled orders are not charged. Official US Place a Trade does not reprint that x on the first-buy swipe — confirm the working-order screen in-app. The only live claim on this page hops through /go/polymarket.
Can I edit a Polymarket limit order, or do I have to cancel and replace it?
Official US Orders API documents a modify that the exchange treats as a cancel-replace. Official retail Limit Orders help and Official Place a Trade do not name an Edit button. We will not invent one on the swipe. The published retail path is cancel the unfilled remainder, then place a new order at the new price or size. You cannot “edit” a filled ticket the same way — that is a position.
Where do open orders live on web versus mobile?
Official Limit Orders help (web): just below the Order Book on the market page, or Portfolio → Open orders if you have clips on more than one market. Official Website vs App: US residents trade in the Polymarket US app, not on the international website. Official Place a Trade: open the Portfolio tab after you swipe. Official US Monitor Your Positions names cash and open positions, not the international “Open orders” tab. Confirm the live app. The phone walkthrough is a different how-to.
What happens to USDC or cash when I cancel?
Unfilled size is not a trade. Official Fee Schedule: no fee on a cancel. On the US desk, Official Check Your Balance treats cash as money not tied to an open position, and Official Orders & Trading treats buying power as cash available to open new positions — after you cancel the remainder, that reserved buying power is no longer sitting on the book. On the international desk, Official help collateralizes Yes/No in USDC (pUSD backed 1:1 by USDC after the April 2026 upgrade). Official pages do not print a cancel-gas figure or an unlock-minute clock. We will not invent either. A cancel is not a bank withdraw.
What if my order only partially filled?
Official Order Types: if the book is short, you receive a partial fill and the unfilled portion stays on the book as an open order until it fills or you cancel. Official Glossary-style teaching example on that page uses a $0.52 ask and a 1,000-lot clip — that is a docs book, not tonight’s NFL board. Canceling the remainder does not sell the contracts that already filled. Those shares are a position. Your execution price reflects only the portion that matched.
Can I cancel or edit a filled Polymarket ticket the same way?
No. Official Orders & Trading: once the order is Filled, you have a position. Official “Can I sell early?”: you close it by trading the other side while the market is still open — you sell at the bid the book will pay. That is How to sell a Polymarket ticket early, not a cancel. After you have cash, How to cash out on Polymarket is the debit / ACH / wire off-ramp.
Do I pay a fee to cancel a Polymarket order?
Official US Fee Schedule FAQ: no. Fees are charged only when a trade executes. Canceled, expired, or rejected orders are not charged. We will not invent a cancel fee or reprint the dollar table. The formula lives on How Polymarket fees work.
Do sports markets cancel my resting limits when the game starts?
Official Limit Orders help (international): outstanding sports limit orders are automatically cancelled once the game begins, and the book is cleared at the official start time. That page also says start times can shift, so you should still watch the order. Official US Place a Trade and Official US Orders & Trading do not reprint that same auto-cancel sentence. We will not paste it onto the US app as a rule those pages do not print. Confirm the live ticket.
Is this the same as the limit-order, sell-early, cash-out, first-ticket, or fees how-to?
No. Limit-order is how you set a price and wait. First-ticket is the first marketable Yes/No from a clean US account. Sell-early is the exchange exit of a filled share. Cash-out is how cash leaves to debit, ACH, or wire. Fees are the published cost stack. This page is only the working order: where it lives, cancel versus edit versus sell, what happens to USDC or cash, and what a partial means. We link out instead of cloning those click paths.
Can I cancel a Polymarket order in every US state?
No. As of our June 2026 check Polymarket was reported unavailable in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. Florida is a green-light state. Sports markets are the most legally contested category anywhere. Confirm the ticket still appears and the working order still accepts a cancel before you treat the book as yours.
Which claim button is actually live on this page?
Polymarket only. The claim button hops through /go/polymarket. There is no /go/kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers claim here. We do not invent tracking URLs.
Is there a Polymarket cancel-order bonus or promo code on this page?
No. We do not publish a dollar welcome or a promo code. Partner codes that appear on other sites belong to those publishers. Confirm any live terms in the Polymarket US app. If you open Polymarket through our link we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — that is not a user bonus.
Is canceling a Polymarket order the same as voiding an NFL DFS lineup?
No. Daily fantasy is a state-licensed gambling product — often 21+, with a 1-800-GAMBLER frame and (sometimes) a deposit-match rollover. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated financial/derivatives products, typically 18+ with KYC. Canceling unfilled size is not a sportsbook void. A filled contract can still settle at zero. There is no protected bonus floor.

Advertising disclosure: Polymarket links are affiliate links — we may earn a commission at no cost to you, which never affects our ratings. Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock and BetRivers have no live outbound claim on this page. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated financial products, not gambling. Trading involves risk and you can lose money, including your entire stake. Not investment advice. 18+. DFS pages on this site use a separate 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame.
