How to Read Your Polymarket Portfolio (US 2026)

Cash, a filled Yes/No, and a resting limit are three different rows. The number on screen is not a bank deposit.

By Scott · Last verified August 8, 2026

Trading involves risk — a mark is not a floor

Polymarket offers CFTC-regulated event contracts: financial/derivatives products, not sportsbook bets and not daily fantasy. You can lose money, including your entire stake. A green number on Portfolio is not withdrawable cash, and a filled ticket can still settle at zero. Nothing on this page is investment advice. For adults 18+ with KYC. Sports markets are the most contested category; state availability can change. DFS pages on this site use a separate 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame — do not mix the two.

Advertising disclosure: the claim button is an affiliate link. We may earn a commission if you sign up through it, at no extra cost to you. That never changes our ratings, and it is not a user bonus.

Who this guide is for

US adults who already have a Polymarket US account and now need to read Portfolio — where it lives, what an open position is versus an open order versus a settled ticket, and why the number on screen is not withdrawable cash. This is not how to buy your first NFL ticket, not how to cancel or edit an order, not how to cash out, not how to sell a ticket early, and not how to withdraw. Those pages are the first swipe, the resting remainder, the exchange exit of a live ticket, the bid-side fill, and the bank off-ramp. This page is the screen. Then we link out. Polymarket is the only live outbound here.

Open position, open order, settled ticket

Official Glossary splits these three. Official Monitor Your Positions is the filled ticket. Official Orders & Trading is the lifecycle before that fill. Do not mash them into one “my money” row. See prediction markets vs sportsbooks if you are looking for a house open-bets slip. There isn’t one.

Open position

Official Glossary + Monitor Your Positions

Official Glossary: an open position is the contracts you currently hold. Official Monitor Your Positions: open positions are contracts you hold in active markets — with contracts held, average entry, current market price, and potential payout. Official Orders & Trading: once an order fills, you have a position (long Yes, or short Yes). That filled ticket is not a resting limit, and it is not cash you can send to a debit card.

Open order

Official Glossary — still on the book

Official Glossary: an open order is an order waiting on the book to be filled; order status is open, filled, or partially filled. Official Orders & Trading lifecycle: Pending, then Open, Partially filled, Filled, or Canceled / Expired / Rejected. Unfilled size is not a ticket you own. Official Limit Orders help (international web) puts working clips on the market page and, across several markets, on Portfolio → Open orders. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint that “Open orders” tab name — confirm the live working-order list instead of hunting for a header we invent.

Settled / closed ticket

Official Glossary History + Market Settlement

Official Glossary: a closed position is one you no longer hold because you sold it or the market resolved. Official Glossary also names History as the section for past filled orders and closed positions. Official Market Settlement: after the outcome is finalized, Polymarket Clearing marks winners $1.00 and losers $0.00 and updates Portfolio when settlement completes. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint a retail tab literally labelled “Settled.” We will not invent one. The action is the same: the open-position row leaves the live list, and sale or settlement proceeds (or zero) land in cash.

Official Glossary · no invented Settled tab · fill ≠ resting limit ≠ cash

Where Portfolio lives

Hard rule: if official US help names a screen, we name it. If a tab is not on those pages, we describe the action. Official Website vs App splits the international site from the US desk.

US app — the Portfolio tab

Official Place a Trade

Official Place a Trade: after you swipe, open the Portfolio tab to track your position and market value. Official Website vs App: US residents deposit and trade in the Polymarket US app, not on the international website. That tab is the published US door. If the live app labels the same screen Profile, Positions, or something else, use the live control — we will not invent a second header those pages do not print.

What official US docs say you will see

Official Monitor Your Positions

Official Monitor Your Positions: the portfolio shows cash balance, open positions, and total account value, and it updates in real time as markets move. You can also see contracts held in each market, average entry price, current market price, and potential payout. Those are the published fields. We do not reprint a live dollar on any of them.

Working orders on web versus the US desk

Confirm the live screen

Official Limit Orders help (polymarket.com, updated April 20, 2026) names a Portfolio page Open orders view for resting clips across more than one market. Official Website vs App: that website is not the US deposit-and-trade desk. Official US Monitor Your Positions names cash and open positions — not that international tab. Find unfilled size on the market you posted, or in the Portfolio list the live US app actually shows. Canceling that remainder is a different how-to.

Official Place a Trade · Portfolio tab · US app, not polymarket.com

Why the number on screen is not withdrawable cash

Official Check Your Balance is the cash rule. Official Can I sell early? and official Market Settlement are the two ways an open ticket becomes cash. Neither is a bank deposit.

Cash balance

Withdrawable after the deposit clears

Official Check Your Balance and Official Glossary: cash is the money not tied to any open position. Official Monitor Your Positions: cash is funds available to trade or withdraw. Deposits land as cash. Official Check Your Balance: proceeds from sales or resolved markets return to cash automatically. Withdrawals come only from that cash — and only after the funding deposit has fully cleared. That off-ramp is a later page.

Position value / current market

A mark — not a bank credit

Official Glossary: position value is the real-time dollar value of your open positions. Official Monitor Your Positions: current market price sits next to average entry. Official Place a Trade: positions update in real time as prices change. That mark moves when other traders rewrite the book. It is not cash in your pocket, and it is not a number we reprint here.

Total value and “P&L” on screen

Official docs do not name a P&L tab

Official Monitor Your Positions: total value is cash plus positions. Official pages we checked do not print a retail column header literally labelled “P&L.” We will not invent one. The action you are reading is the gap between average entry and current market (or position value versus what you paid). That gap is a mark-to-market. It does not become withdrawable cash until you sell while the market is open, or Clearing settles the ticket.

Potential payout

If the side you hold wins

Official Monitor Your Positions lists potential payout on the open position. Official Glossary: a contract settles at $1.00 if the outcome occurs and $0.00 if it does not. Potential payout is the published upside if that side grades yes — not a guaranteed credit, and not cash you can withdraw today. Event contracts can settle at zero.

Official US docs · no live balance · no invented P&L column · mark ≠ withdraw

How to read the Portfolio

  1. Step 1

Open the US Portfolio tab — not the international website

Official Place a Trade: open the Portfolio tab to track the position and market value. Official Website vs App: US residents use the Polymarket US app; polymarket.com is a different product and US residents cannot deposit or trade there. Official What is Polymarket US? is the fiat, CFTC-regulated desk this page belongs to. If a control is labelled differently in-app, use the live screen. If the sports desk is hidden where you live, stop.

  2. Step 2

Split the screen into cash, open positions, and working orders

Official Monitor Your Positions: cash, open positions, and total value are three different rows. Official Glossary: an open position is contracts you hold; an open order is size still waiting on the book. Do not mash a resting limit into a filled Yes/No. Official US pages do not reprint the international “Open orders” tab — find unfilled size on the market you posted or in the live Portfolio list. Canceling that remainder is How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order. This page only names the row.

  3. Step 3

Read average entry versus current market — treat the gap as a mark, not cash

Official Monitor Your Positions: average entry, current market price, and potential payout sit on the open position. Official Glossary: position value is the real-time dollar value of those contracts. Official Check Your Balance: cash is the money not tied to an open position. The number that looks like profit or loss is not a debit-card credit. Official “Why does my position look down right after I buy?”: leftover dollars that could not buy a whole contract return to cash, so the position can look slightly down even though you did not take a market loss. We do not reprint a live balance.

  4. Step 4

Find settled or sold tickets as cash — plus History if the live screen shows it

Official Market Settlement: Portfolio updates when Clearing finishes; winners $1.00, losers $0.00. Official Check Your Balance and Official “Can I sell early?”: sale proceeds and resolved-market proceeds return to cash automatically. Official Glossary names History as the section for past fills and closed positions. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint a “Settled” or “History” tab label. We will not invent one. Look for the open-position row to disappear and for cash to change — then confirm whatever activity or History section the live Portfolio actually shows.

  5. Step 5

Stop — selling, canceling, cashing out, and withdrawing are later how-tos

Official Place a Trade: you can cash out anytime while the market is open or hold until it resolves. Those click paths live on How to sell a Polymarket ticket early and How to cash out on Polymarket. Sending cash off the desk is How to withdraw from Polymarket. The first swipe is How to buy your first NFL ticket. This page does not clone them. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Nothing here is investment advice.

The leftover-dollars mark — not a market loss

Official “Why does my position look down right after I buy?” is the quiet row people misread as a bad fill. Polymarket US only supports whole contracts. When you enter a dollar amount, leftover funds that cannot buy another contract go straight back to cash. Portfolio then shows only the value of the contracts you received, so the position can look slightly down at first even though you did not lose anything on the book.

That FAQ is not a live P&L we reprint, and it is not a reason to panic-sell. If you later want the filled shares off the book, that is How to sell a Polymarket ticket early — a second action, at the bid. This page does not clone that swipe.

Blocked and contested states

Reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. If you are in a listed state, do not treat a Portfolio mark as money you can withdraw. If you are in Florida or another green-light state, still confirm Portfolio opens before you treat a row as yours.

Age is 18+ with identity verification. That is a different gate from the 21+ / responsible-gambling frame on our DFS pages, because these are traded financial instruments. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those contest-score rules do not carry over. Compare platforms on the prediction-markets hub.

What you will not get from this page

A dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, a live cash figure or P&L, an invented Settled or P&L tab, a cloned first-ticket / cancel / cash-out / sell-early / withdraw / mobile walkthrough, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — open the Portfolio tab in the US app, an open position is contracts you hold, an open order is unfilled size on the book, a settled or sold ticket becomes cash (or zero) after Clearing or a sale, History is the official Glossary name for past fills and closed positions, on-screen value is not withdrawable until it is cash, and anything those US pages do not print is not a label we invent. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Portfolio on Polymarket US?
Official Place a Trade: open the Portfolio tab to track your position and market value. Official Monitor Your Positions: that screen shows cash, open positions, and total account value. Official Website vs App: US residents use the Polymarket US app, not polymarket.com. If the live app labels the same screen differently, use the live control. We will not invent a second header. The only live claim on this page hops through /go/polymarket.
What is an open position versus an open order on Polymarket?
Official Glossary: an open position is the contracts you currently hold; an open order is an order still waiting on the book to be filled. Official Orders & Trading: a fill creates a position. Official Monitor Your Positions describes the filled ticket — average entry, current market, potential payout. Official Limit Orders help names Portfolio → Open orders on the international web for resting clips; official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint that tab. Confirm the live working-order list.
Where do settled tickets go after a market resolves?
Official Market Settlement: Polymarket Clearing sets winning contracts to $1.00 and losing contracts to $0.00, then updates Portfolio when settlement completes. Official Check Your Balance: proceeds from resolved markets return to cash automatically. Official Glossary: that is a closed position, and History is the section for past fills and closed positions. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint a “Settled” tab. We will not invent one. Look for cash to change and for the open-position row to leave the live list.
Is the P&L or position value on screen withdrawable cash?
No. Official pages we checked do not print a retail column labelled “P&L.” Official Glossary names position value as the real-time dollar value of open positions. Official Monitor Your Positions adds current market next to average entry, and total value as cash plus positions. Official Check Your Balance: withdrawals come only from cash — money not tied to an open position — and only after the funding deposit has fully cleared. A mark is not a bank deposit. You sell while the market is open, or you wait for Clearing.
Why does my Polymarket position look down right after I buy?
Official “Why does my position look down right after I buy?”: Polymarket US only fills whole contracts. Leftover dollars from a dollar-amount order return to cash, so Portfolio can show the position slightly down even though you did not take a market loss. That is not a live price we reprint, and it is not a reason to treat the mark as a realized loss.
What do average entry, current market price, and potential payout mean?
Official Monitor Your Positions lists all three on the open position. Average entry is what you paid for the contracts you hold. Current market price is the book right now — Official Place a Trade says it updates in real time. Potential payout is what those contracts pay if your side wins (Official Glossary: $1.00 per winning contract, $0.00 if it loses). None of those three is a withdrawable cash figure by itself.
Is this the same as the first-ticket, cancel/edit, cash-out, sell-early, or withdraw how-to?
No. First-ticket is the first marketable Yes/No from a clean US account. Cancel/edit is unfilled size still on the book. Sell-early is the exchange exit of a filled share. Cash-out is how a live ticket becomes cash on the exchange. Withdraw is how settled cash leaves to debit, ACH, or wire. This page is only how to read the Portfolio: where it lives, open position versus open order versus settled/closed, and why the number on screen is not withdrawable cash. We link out instead of cloning those click paths.
Can I read a Polymarket portfolio in every US state?
No. As of our June 2026 check Polymarket was reported unavailable in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. Florida is a green-light state. Sports markets are the most legally contested category anywhere. Confirm the app still opens Portfolio before you treat a mark as yours.
Which claim button is actually live on this page?
Polymarket only. The claim button hops through /go/polymarket. There is no /go/kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers claim here. We do not invent tracking URLs.
Is there a Polymarket portfolio bonus or promo code on this page?
No. We do not publish a dollar welcome or a promo code. Partner codes that appear on other sites belong to those publishers. Confirm any live terms in the Polymarket US app. If you open Polymarket through our link we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — that is not a user bonus.
Is reading a Polymarket portfolio the same as checking an NFL DFS lineup score?
No. Daily fantasy is a state-licensed gambling product — often 21+, with a 1-800-GAMBLER frame and (sometimes) a deposit-match rollover. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated financial/derivatives products, typically 18+ with KYC. A mark-to-market is not a contest payout. A filled contract can still settle at zero. There is no protected bonus floor.
