Who this guide is for
US adults who can already find Polymarket and now need to read an NFL contract before they click. This is not the Week 1 checklist, not the Melbourne Thursday game URL, and not the Patriots–Seahawks kickoff page. Those pages are clocks and slates. This page is the ticket: Yes/No, resolution source, deadline, and how a sportsbook moneyline / spread / total maps onto the board. The identity walkthrough is How to complete Polymarket KYC; funding is How to deposit on Polymarket. Polymarket is the only live outbound on this page.
What the ticket actually shows
An NFL contract is a Yes/No price between 1¢ and 99¢. Buy Yes at 60¢ and you pay 60¢ for a contract that settles at $1 if the stated event occurs and $0 if it does not. There is no lineup, no salary cap, and no deposit-match rollover protecting a floor. We do not quote a team price here.
The Yes/No question
The title is the contract. “Will the visiting team win?” is not the same ticket as “Will the visiting team cover 3.5?” or “Will the combined score go over 44.5?” Read the sentence, not the team logos.
Yes and No
You buy one side. Yes pays $1 if the stated event occurs and $0 if it does not. No is the complementary side of that same sentence — including outcomes the sportsbook moneyline would treat as a push or a void. A regular-season tie is a No on “Will Team A win?”
The price in cents
The displayed price is the market’s implied probability, not a sportsbook juice line we reprint. Buy Yes at 40¢ and you pay 40¢ for a $1 settlement if you are right. We do not quote live NFL prices on this page. The book in-app is the book.
Resolution source
Every contract names how it grades — usually an official league result or a source printed on the ticket. Do not assume it grades like a sportsbook. Overtime, postponed games, vacated results, and “winner of the game” vs “cover the number” are different rules. The source on the contract wins.
Deadline / last trade
The contract page stamps when trading ends. For a single-game market that is often at or near kickoff, but the stamp is the rule — not the TV window and not a clock we invent here. After the deadline you hold to settlement. You cannot “cash out” a contract that has already closed.
Moneyline, spread, total — the board mapping
Sportsbook bet types do not exist as a slip on Polymarket. They show up as separate Yes/No sentences. The examples below are how those ideas usually appear — not live numbers, and not a promise every NFL market uses this wording.
Moneyline
Will [team] win this game?
A Yes on Team A is “Team A wins.” A No is everything else, including a regular-season tie. That is not automatically the same as buying Yes on Team B. Open the actual question; do not infer it from a sportsbook slip.
Spread / against the spread
Will [team] win by more than [X.5]?
The number lives in the title. Covering 6.5 is a different event from winning the game. A 3-point win is a No on “win by more than 6.5” even though it is a Yes on the moneyline-style winner contract. Half-points remove ties on the number; whole numbers can push in a sportsbook and still resolve Yes or No here — read the sentence.
Total / over-under
Will the combined score be over [X.5]?
Yes is the over on that printed number; No is the under on the same sentence (unless a second contract asks the under as its own Yes). Combined score means both teams. Overtime points count unless the ticket says they do not. We do not invent a total.

How to read the contract before you click
-
Step 1
Open the NFL board and pick one contract — not a pile of logos
Find the sports / NFL desk in-app, then open a single ticket. Season futures, conference winners, and player props are different questions from a Week 1 game. If the sports desk is hidden where you live, stop — an NFL market listed nationally can still be unavailable in your state.
-
Step 2
Read the Yes/No question word-for-word
The title is the event. Confirm which team, which game, and whether the sentence is a winner, a margin, or a combined score. Do not click from a screenshot, a recap, or a sportsbook slip. The contract in front of you is the only wording that settles.
-
Step 3
Find the resolution source on the ticket
Scroll to the rules. Note who grades the result and what happens if the game is postponed, vacated, or ends in a tie. Official league results are typical; the printed source still wins over a broadcast graphic. If the rules are blank or you do not understand them, do not click.
-
Step 4
Find the deadline / last-trade stamp
Note when trading ends and when the contract is scheduled to resolve. A Thursday Melbourne kickoff and a Wednesday Kickoff Game close on different clocks. The stamp on the ticket is the rule. After it prints closed, you are holding to settlement.
-
Step 5
Map moneyline, spread, or total onto that exact sentence
Sportsbook language does not paste onto the board. A moneyline idea is usually a “will this team win?” Yes/No. A spread idea is a margin question with a number in the title. A total is a combined-score question with a number in the title. If the number or the team does not match what you meant, you are on the wrong ticket.
-
Step 6
Confirm you can actually trade before you click Yes or No
US access is not universal. As of our June 2026 check Polymarket was reported unavailable in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. Florida is a green-light state. You must finish KYC and have buying power from a cleared or instant-credit deposit. Those walkthroughs are separate pages. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Nothing here is investment advice.
Blocked-state, KYC, and deposit gotchas
Reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. If you are in a listed state, do not open a ticket on the assumption the desk is open. If you are in Florida or another green-light state, still confirm the app lets you finish KYC and that the specific NFL contract actually appears before you send money.
A contract you can see is not a contract you can trade. Official US docs require identity verification before you can deposit or trade; hold times are set by Polymarket, not by us. Funding is a separate conversion — debit, ACH, or wire on the official US on-ramp, from an account in your own name. Instant buying power on debit or ACH can appear before the deposit fully clears; a wire credits after receipt and verification. The click paths live on the KYC how-to and the deposit how-to. This page does not repeat them.
Age is 18+ with identity verification. That is a different gate from the 21+ / responsible-gambling frame on our DFS pages, because these are traded financial instruments. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those rules do not carry over to event contracts, and the reverse is also true. Compare platforms on the prediction-markets hub and the seasonal NFL Prediction Markets 2026 guide.
What you will not get from this page
A dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, live NFL prices, an invented score, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — read the Yes/No question, the resolution source, and the deadline before you click, and confirm the NFL board in-app. Last verified August 8, 2026.
