Who this page is for
US adults who need a straight eligibility answer before they send an ID or a debit card: can you open a Polymarket US account, which states official help actually names as blocked, and what to do if the app says no. This is not how to complete KYC, not how to deposit, not how to use Polymarket on mobile, and not prediction markets vs sportsbooks. Those pages are the ID check, the rails, the phone path, and the product fork. This page is the gate. Polymarket is the only live outbound here.
Who can open a Polymarket US account
Official What is Polymarket US? and Create an Account describe a US resident who finishes identity verification on the US desk. We do not add extra document lists those pages do not ask for.
US resident on the US desk
Official US docs
Official What is Polymarket US?: the US product is a fiat, CFTC-regulated designated contract market and derivatives clearing organization, built for US residents. Official Website vs App (June 25, 2026): US residents must use the Polymarket US app. You cannot deposit or place trades on polymarket.com. Those are separate products with separate support teams (support@polymarket.us vs support@polymarket.com).
18+ with identity verification
Official US App Store
The public US App Store listing for Polymarket (Blockratize Inc) is rated 18+ in the Finance category. Official Create an Account asks for your full legal name, date of birth, and residential address. Most users clear automatically; if the app asks, you upload a government-issued ID and complete a selfie check. You must finish KYC before you can deposit or trade. Hold times live on the KYC how-to — this page does not repeat that walkthrough.
A residential address the app will accept
In-app is the live check
Official Create an Account collects a residential address. Official partner KYC docs ask for a two-letter US state code. That is not the same as a published “open in these 49 states” table. If the app will not let you finish sign-up or hides the market you want, that is the eligibility answer for your address — not a list we invent here.

The official blocked-state list — and what is missing
Hard rule for this page: we reprint only what official Polymarket US help and official US public copy published when we checked in August 2026. If a state is not on those pages, it is not on this list.
Official US help / docs
No state table
docs.polymarket.us Trading Restrictions is about firm policy and material nonpublic information — not a map. Create an Account, What is Polymarket US?, and the US FAQs do not name Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Ohio, or any other state as blocked. We will not paste a third-party list onto those pages.
Official US App Store listing
The one named state
The public US listing (Blockratize Inc, id 6648798962) says Polymarket is CFTC-regulated in the United States “in all 50 states*” and footnotes: “Trading currently unavailable in NV.” That is the only US state official Polymarket US public copy named when we checked in August 2026. Nevada is the reprint. Everything else is “confirm in-app.”
Official international Geographic Restrictions
Different product
help.polymarket.com Geographic Restrictions (updated August 14, 2026) lists the United States as a fully blocked country — for the international, crypto product on polymarket.com. Official Website vs App is the split: that block is why US residents are pointed at the US app, not a reason to treat every US state as closed on the CFTC desk.
Named on official US public copy
Nevada (NV)
That is the complete official US-side state list we could cite. The App Store footnote can move. Official US help still does not publish the rest of the map. Sports markets remain the most legally contested category anywhere — including in states the storefront does not name. Confirm the ticket still appears before you send money.
Last checked August 2026 · no invented states · no “we checked all 50”
Two desks — do not mix the US block lists
Official Website vs App is the split. Official Geographic Restrictions (updated August 14, 2026) is the international country list. It names the United States as fully blocked on that product. That is why a US IP does not get a funded polymarket.com wallet. It is not a secret 50-state table for the CFTC app.
Official Trading Restrictions on the US docs is a different gate: employees at certain firms, and anyone holding material nonpublic information related to an event. That is compliance language, not “your state is closed.”
polymarket.us itself is a Google / Apple sign-up wall. We could not scrape a public eligibility picker or a terms page from that URL without logging in. If a fuller state list lives behind that login, it is not a public official list we can reprint.
18+ — not the DFS age line
The public US App Store listing is rated 18+. Official Create an Account collects a date of birth. That is a different gate from the 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame on our DFS pages, because these are traded financial instruments. A contract can settle at zero. There is no deposit-match rollover protecting a floor. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those cashier rules do not carry over.
If you are blocked
A block is an access decision. It is not a hint to route around the desk.
-
Step 1
Read the in-app message — then stop
If sign-up, KYC, or a sports ticket is refused, the app is the eligibility screen. Do not start a second account to “try again.” Official Create an Account: similar information on another account is a common reason a file goes under review.
-
Step 2
Ask Polymarket US support, not a workaround blog
Official How do I contact support?: in-app chat, or support@polymarket.us. Include what you were trying to do and the exact error. They set access. We do not.
-
Step 3
Do not use a VPN, spoof a location, or cross a state line to get around a block
Official Geographic Restrictions: Polymarket strictly prohibits VPNs or similar tools to bypass geographic restrictions and treats that as a Terms of Service violation. We will not recommend a VPN, a fake GPS, a borrowed address, or driving to a green-light state to open or fund an account. If you are blocked, you are blocked.
-
Step 4
If you wanted DFS instead, leave this desk
Event contracts are 18+ with a trading-risk disclosure. Daily fantasy on this site uses a separate 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame. Those rules do not carry over. Start at the picks hub if that is the product you actually want.

What you will not get from this page
A 50-state spreadsheet we did not have an official table for, a reprinted third-party “unavailable in eight states” list, a VPN how-to, a spoofed-GPS tip, a “drive to Florida” workaround, a dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — 18+ with KYC, official US public copy currently names Nevada as unavailable, official US help does not publish the rest of the map, and the in-app screen is the live check. Last verified August 8, 2026.
