How to Read a Voided or Canceled Market on Polymarket (US 2026)

An open ticket on a market that did not grade the usual Yes or No. Settlement — not a sportsbook stake-back, and not how you cancel your own order.

By Scott · Last verified August 8, 2026

Trading involves risk — a canceled event is not a floor

Polymarket offers CFTC-regulated event contracts: financial/derivatives products, not sportsbook bets and not daily fantasy. You can lose money, including your entire stake. A voided or canceled market is not a published refund of your entry. Last fair market price or a 0.50 alternative can still be less than you paid. Nothing on this page is investment advice. For adults 18+ with KYC. Sports markets are the most contested category; state availability can change. DFS pages on this site use a separate 21+ / 1-800-GAMBLER frame — do not mix the two.

Who this guide is for

US adults who already hold a Polymarket ticket — or are staring at a market that no longer looks like a normal Open Yes/No — and need to know what a voided or canceled market means for that open position. How that state is labelled if public US help or the live page shows it. Whether you get stake back or a published settlement. Why this is not how to cancel your own order. This is not how to cancel a deposit, not how to cancel or edit an order, not how to check when a market ends, not how to read market rules, and not how to read a resolution source. Those pages are the cashier rail, the resting limit, the clock, the full rules block, and the grader. This page is only the void / cancel read on a ticket you already opened. Then we link out. Polymarket is the only live outbound on this page.

How a void or cancel is labelled

Official Prices & Market Data is the named retail lifecycle: Open, Pre-open, Suspended, Halted, Expired. Official Sports FAQs use canceled as an event fact. Official Market Rules can print a 50-50 line in the rules. If the live app uses a different word, follow that word — we will not invent a Voided tab those pages do not print.

Official market states do not print Voided or Canceled

Official Prices & Market Data

Official Prices & Market Data names five market states: Open (accepting orders), Pre-open (exists, trading has not started), Suspended (temporarily paused), Halted (trading stopped), and Expired (ended and settled). Those are the published retail lifecycle words. Official Browse Markets and Official Place a Trade do not reprint a tile, chip, or column labelled Voided, Void, or Canceled market on the swipe we checked. We will not invent that header.

Canceled is a published order status — not a market chip

Official Orders & Trading

Official Orders & Trading lifecycle: Pending, then Open, Partially filled, Filled, or Canceled / Expired / Rejected. That Canceled word is unfilled size leaving the book. Official Glossary: an open order is waiting to be filled; order status is open, filled, or partially filled. A canceled resting clip is not a voided ticket you already own. How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order is that red-x path. This page does not clone it.

Official sports help names a canceled game as an event fact

Official Sports FAQs

Official Sports FAQs ask “What if a game is canceled and never replayed?” That sentence is about the underlying contest, not a home-screen badge. If the game is canceled and not rescheduled before the contract’s expiration date, those FAQs settle at last fair market prices as of the official cancellation announcement. Official Market Rules put a different teaching line in the rules: “If the game is canceled entirely with no make-up game, this market will settle 50-50.” Those are two published paths. The ticket in front of you picks one.

If the live page prints Voided or Canceled, use that live word

Action, not an invented tab

Hard rule: if official US help names the field, we name it. Those pages do not reprint Voided as a market state. If the live market page, Portfolio row, or History line prints Voided, Canceled, Void, Alternative settlement, or 50-50, follow that live label. If no such word is there, the action is: open the ticket, see whether the book is still Open, then read the rules / Settlement Description for how an already-filled position settles. Official Website vs App: US residents do that in the Polymarket US app.

Official US docs · no invented Voided chip · Canceled order ≠ canceled market

Stake back versus resolved — what happens to the open ticket

Hard split: a filled Yes/No is still a position until Market Settlement finishes. Official US help does not reprint “void = get your stake back.” Official Market Resolution is still $1.00 / $0.00 when the ticket grades the usual way.

A sportsbook-style stake-back void is not the published US default

Not a house refund of your entry

A sportsbook void usually returns the stake and treats the slip as if it never existed. Official US consumer help does not reprint that product. Official Glossary: settlement is $1.00 for winning contracts and $0.00 for losing contracts. Official Market Settlement adds Alternative Settlement when a market’s Settlement Description says something else. Official Sports FAQs settle a canceled-and-not-replayed game at last fair market prices. None of those pages say “you get back exactly what you paid.” We will not invent that refund.

If the ticket prints 50-50 / 0.50, that is a published settlement — not a void button

Official Market Rules + Market Settlement

Official Market Rules: alternative settlement terms live in the resolution criteria, including situations where the market settles at 0.50. Their teaching example is a game canceled entirely with no make-up, settling 50-50. Official Market Settlement: when alternative settlement applies, Polymarket Clearing follows the Settlement Description on that market. We do not invent a 50-50 for a ticket that does not print one. If that line is on the ticket, Clearing is grading the position — it is not canceling your order, and it is not automatically your original fill price.

A canceled sports event can settle at last fair market price

Official Sports FAQs · LFMP

Official Sports FAQs: last fair market price (LFMP) is the prevailing fair market price on the Exchange at a specified moment — typically the official announcement (cancellation, walkover, or no-contest). It is not the last traded price at market close. Markets may stay open after that announcement; trades in that window are at the trader’s own risk; settlement still uses LFMP at the announcement, not later prints. If you bought at one price and LFMP is another, that gap is the grade. It can be more or less than your entry. We do not reprint a live LFMP.

A filled ticket still resolves — then Clearing updates Portfolio

Official Market Resolution + Settlement

Official Market Resolution: after a normal grade, winning shares settle at $1.00 and losing shares at $0.00; Portfolio updates when settlement completes. Official Get Market Settlement API names a settlement price field — that is an API fact, not a retail “Voided” chip we will paste onto the swipe. Official Monitor Your Positions and Official Glossary: a closed position is one you no longer hold because you sold it or the market resolved. Official Check Your Balance: proceeds from resolved markets return to cash automatically. That cash is not a bank deposit. How to cash out is the later off-ramp.

Official Sports FAQs · LFMP ≠ last trade ≠ your entry · 50-50 only if the ticket prints it

This is not how to cancel your own order

People mash “get it back” into one button. Official US docs do not. Official cancel language on the book is unfilled size. Official Market Clarification may clear resting orders when Additional context posts. See prediction markets vs sportsbooks if you are looking for a house void of the stake. There isn’t one on this desk.

Cancel your own order — unfilled size still on the book

A different how-to

Official Orders & Trading: a limit sits until someone trades against it or you cancel it. Official Fee Schedule (on that other page): a canceled, expired, or rejected order is not charged because no trade executed. That click does not void a market other people are still holding, and it does not rewrite a fill you already own. How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order is that walkthrough. This page is what the exchange does to the market — or what the rules do when the event is canceled.

A clarification can cancel resting orders — the market can still be live

Official Market Clarification

Official Market Clarification: when Additional context is posted, Polymarket US may cancel resting orders so they are not executed under clarified rules. That is an order-book clear, not a published “void the market and refund every fill.” Official copy: clarifications do not change the market question. Official “Can I sell early?” still applies while the market is open. Do not read a canceled resting clip as a canceled ticket.

Cancel a deposit is the cashier — not this desk

Leave that page alone

A pending debit, ACH, or wire is money moving onto the US desk. Official consumer help does not name Cancel Deposit on those rails. That question lives on How to cancel a deposit. This page never walks that cashier path. A voided or canceled market does not stop a rail that already left your bank.

Official US docs · cancel-order ≠ cancel-deposit ≠ voided market

How to read a voided or canceled market

  1. Step 1

Confirm you are reading the market — not trying to cancel your own order

This page is a Polymarket US market that did not grade Yes or No the usual way — the event was canceled, the ticket prints an alternative settlement, or the live screen marks the book as no longer a normal Open trade. A limit still sitting on the book is How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order. A pending debit is How to cancel a deposit. Official Website vs App: open the ticket in the Polymarket US app, not on polymarket.com. If the sports desk is hidden where you live, stop.

  2. Step 2

Open the ticket and read the live status word — do not invent Voided

Official Place a Trade: tap the market to open it. Official Prices & Market Data: Open still accepts orders; Halted has stopped trading; Expired has ended and settled. Official US retail help does not reprint a Voided or Canceled-market chip on the swipe we checked — we will not invent one. If the live page prints Voided, Canceled, Void, or another stop word, use that live label. Then look at Portfolio: Official Glossary an open position is contracts you still hold; an open order is size still waiting.

  3. Step 3

Read the rules / Settlement Description for stake-back versus a published grade

Official Market Clarification: markets resolve based on the rules shown on that market page. Official Market Rules teaching copy can print a canceled game with no make-up as 50-50. Official Market Settlement: alternative settlement follows the Settlement Description. Official Sports FAQs: a game canceled and not rescheduled before expiration settles at last fair market prices as of the official announcement — not the last trade, and not automatically your entry. If the block is blank or you do not understand the path, do not treat a tweet as the grade. How to read market rules and How to read a resolution source are those full reads. This page does not clone them.

  4. Step 4

Treat LFMP or 0.50 as a settlement of the open ticket — not a sportsbook refund

A filled Yes/No is still a position until Clearing finishes. Official Sports FAQs: LFMP is the prevailing fair market price at the announcement; later prints do not rewrite it. Official Market Settlement still updates Portfolio when settlement completes. You can be paid more than you paid, less than you paid, $0.50 a side, $1.00, or $0.00 — whatever that ticket’s published path says. We do not reprint a live dollar. Official “Can I sell early?” only works while the market is still Open. After it is Halted or Expired, you are holding to that grade.

  5. Step 5

Then leave cash-out, portfolio, and the clock to their own pages

Official Check Your Balance: proceeds from resolved markets return to cash. How to read your Polymarket portfolio is that row. How to cash out is the later debit / ACH / wire off-ramp — only after the funding deposit has fully cleared. How to check when a market ends is the resolution-date clock, not this void/cancel read. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Nothing here is investment advice.

Blocked and contested states

Reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. If you are in a listed state, do not treat a canceled-event line as a fill on the assumption the desk is open. If you are in Florida or another green-light state, still confirm the ticket appears before you treat LFMP or a 0.50 line as cash you already have.

Age is 18+ with identity verification. That is a different gate from the 21+ / responsible-gambling frame on our DFS pages, because these are traded financial instruments. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those lineup-void rules do not carry over. Compare platforms on the prediction-markets hub.

What you will not get from this page

A sportsbook-style stake-back void official US help does not publish, an invented Voided tab, a live LFMP or settlement dollar, a cloned cancel-deposit / cancel-order / market-ends / market-rules / resolution-source walkthrough, a dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, a newsletter form, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — official market states are Open / Halted / Expired, not a Voided chip we invent; a canceled sports event settles at last fair market price unless that ticket prints an alternative such as 50-50; that grade is not automatically your entry; canceling your own order is a different action; and if the live page prints Voided or Canceled, use that live word. Frequently Asked Questions

What does a voided or canceled Polymarket market mean for an open ticket?
It means the exchange is no longer grading that ticket as a normal $1.00 / $0.00 Yes or No — or the underlying event was canceled — and the published path on that ticket now governs the fill you already own. Official Sports FAQs settle a canceled-and-not-replayed game at last fair market prices as of the official announcement. Official Market Rules teach 50-50 only as an alternative-settlement example when the rules print it. Official US help does not reprint a sportsbook-style “stake back” void. The only live claim on this page hops through /go/polymarket.
How is a voided or canceled market labelled on Polymarket US?
Official Prices & Market Data names Open, Pre-open, Suspended, Halted, and Expired. Those pages do not reprint a market state labelled Voided or Canceled. Official Orders & Trading uses Canceled for an order that left the book. Official Sports FAQs use “canceled” as an event fact in the rules, not as a home-screen chip. If the live market page or Portfolio row prints Voided, Canceled, or Void, use that live word. If it does not, describe the action: open the ticket, see whether orders are still accepted, then read the Settlement Description.
Do I get my stake back if a Polymarket market is voided or canceled?
Not as a published “refund your entry” product. Official Glossary settlement is $1.00 or $0.00. Official Market Settlement follows a Settlement Description when alternative settlement applies — Official Market Rules’ teaching example is 50-50 / 0.50 on a canceled game with no make-up. Official Sports FAQs use last fair market price for a canceled sports event that is not replayed before expiration. LFMP is not your fill price and not the last trade after the announcement. You can receive more or less than you paid.
Is this the same as canceling my own Polymarket order?
No. Canceling your own order is unfilled size still sitting on the book — Official Orders & Trading, then the red-x path on How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order. A voided or canceled market is what happens to the event or to the ticket’s published settlement after you already have a position (or after the exchange stops a normal Yes/No grade). Official Market Clarification may also cancel resting orders when Additional context is posted; that is still not a market-wide stake-back void.
What is last fair market price on a canceled Polymarket sports ticket?
Official Sports FAQs: LFMP is the prevailing fair market price on the Exchange at a specified moment, typically the official cancellation, walkover, or no-contest announcement. It is not the last traded price at market close. The book may stay open after that announcement; trades in that window are at your own risk; settlement still uses LFMP at the announcement. We do not reprint a live LFMP. If your ticket’s rules print 50-50 instead, that printed line wins.
Is this the same as the market-ends, market-rules, resolution-source, cash-out, or portfolio how-to?
No. Market-ends is the resolution-date clock. Market-rules is the full rules block. Resolution-source is who grades the ticket. Cash-out is selling a live ticket and then withdrawing cash. Portfolio is open position versus open order versus settled cash. This page is only how to read a voided or canceled market: how that state is labelled if official help or the live page shows it, what happens to an open ticket (settlement versus stake-back), and why this is not how to cancel your own order. We link out instead of cloning those click paths.
Can I read a voided or canceled Polymarket market in every US state?
No. As of our June 2026 check Polymarket was reported unavailable in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. Florida is a green-light state. Sports markets are the most legally contested category anywhere. Confirm the ticket still appears before you treat a canceled-event line as a fill you still hold.
Which claim button is actually live on this page?
Polymarket only. The claim button hops through /go/polymarket. There is no /go/kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers claim here. We do not invent tracking URLs.
Is there a Polymarket voided-market bonus or promo code on this page?
No. We do not publish a dollar welcome or a promo code. Partner codes that appear on other sites belong to those publishers. Confirm any live terms in the Polymarket US app. If you open Polymarket through our link we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you — that is not a user bonus.
Is a voided Polymarket market the same as a sportsbook void or an NFL DFS lineup void?
No. A sportsbook void usually returns the stake. Daily fantasy is a state-licensed gambling product — often 21+, with a 1-800-GAMBLER frame — and a lineup scratch has its own house rule. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated financial/derivatives products, typically 18+ with KYC. Official US docs grade a canceled sports event at last fair market price or, if that ticket prints it, an alternative settlement such as 0.50. A contract can still settle at zero. There is no protected bonus floor.
