Who this guide is for
US adults who already have one resting, unfilled order and now need to cancel that clip — where the row lives if public US help or the live card shows it, what happens to leftover size, and why that click is not selling a filled position. This is not how to read open orders, not how to read a partial fill, not how to tell maker from taker, and not how to set a price alert. Those pages are the working-order list, the middle state, the role on a fill, and a ping that does not post size. This page is the undo on one unfilled row. Then we link out. Polymarket is the only live outbound on this page.
What you are canceling
Official Glossary splits open order from open position. Official Orders & Trading is the lifecycle before a fill. Official Can I sell early? is the ticket after it matches. Do not mash them into one “undo my money” button. See prediction markets vs sportsbooks if you wanted a house void. There isn’t one.
One open order — size still waiting on the book
Official Glossary + Orders & Trading
Official Glossary: an open order is an order waiting on the book to be filled. Official Orders & Trading: a limit sits until someone trades against it or you cancel it; after Pending, that resting state is Open. This page is that one clip. You are not closing a Yes/No you already own, and you are not rewriting a fill.
Not the filled ticket — that is an open position
Official Glossary + Can I sell early?
Official Glossary: an open position is the contracts you currently hold. Official Orders & Trading: once the order is Filled, you have a position. Official Can I sell early?: closing that ticket is a sale while the market is still open, and proceeds go to cash. A cancel does not do that work. If the row already says Filled, stop — this how-to will not pull those shares off the book.
Not every working clip at once — one row
Describe the action
Official Limit Orders help walks canceling the order you can see on that market’s page. Official US Place a Trade does not reprint a Cancel all control on the swipe we checked. We will not invent one. The action on this page is: find the single resting row you meant, then use the live cancel on that row. Other markets, other prices, and already-matched size stay where they are.
Official Open ≠ Filled · one row · cancel ≠ sell
Where that one open order lives
Hard rule: if official help names a screen, we name it. If the US pages do not reprint that label, we describe the action. Official Website vs App splits the international site from the US desk.
On that market’s page, just below the book (web)
Official Limit Orders help
Official Limit Orders help (international, updated April 20, 2026): when you have an open order, it is displayed just below the Order Book on that market’s page. That is your resting clip on the ticket you posted into — not the public bid/ask ladder above it, and not a filled Yes/No card. How to read open orders is the find-and-read walkthrough. This page only needs that row so you can cancel it. We do not reprint a live price under the clip.
Portfolio — Open orders, if public help or the live card shows it
Official Limit Orders help · US pages silent
Official Limit Orders help names a Portfolio page Open orders view for resting clips across more than one market. That published tab is working orders. Official Website vs App: polymarket.com is not the US deposit-and-trade desk. Official US Monitor Your Positions describes cash, open positions, and total value — it does not reprint that “Open orders” tab name. If the live US Portfolio or the live card already shows a working-order list, use that list. If it does not, open the market you posted and look for unfilled size on that ticket.
US app — find the resting row, then the live cancel on it
Describe the action
Official Place a Trade: after a swipe, open the Portfolio tab to track the position and market value. Official Website vs App: US residents deposit and trade in the Polymarket US app, not on the international website. Official Place a Trade does not reprint a cancel control on the first-buy swipe. Official Limit Orders help names a red x alongside the resting order on that international page. We will not paste that x onto the US app as a button those US pages do not print. The action is: find the working-order row, then use whatever live cancel the US card prints on that row.
Official Limit Orders help names the clip and a red x on web · US pages do not reprint that tab or that x
What happens to unfilled size
Official Order Types is leftover that can still be sitting. Official Fee Schedule FAQ is why a cancel is not a trade. Official Check Your Balance is cash after size is no longer reserved. We name those facts. We do not reprint a live leftover, and we do not walk a bank off-ramp.
Unfilled size leaves the book — it was never a trade
Official Order Types + Fee Schedule FAQ
Official Order Types: leftover size that did not match stays as an open order until it is filled or canceled. Official Fee Schedule FAQ: fees apply only when a trade executes; canceled, expired, or rejected orders are not charged. Pulling that remainder off the book does not create a sale, a settlement, or a bank credit. We do not reprint a leftover count.
A partial already matched — cancel does not sell that slice
Official Orders & Trading
Official Orders & Trading: Partially filled means some of the order matched and the rest is still open. Official Glossary: the matched slice is a fill; an open position is the contracts you hold. Canceling the leftover takes only the waiting size off the book. The contracts that already filled stay yours. How to read a partial fill is that split. This page does not clone it.
Canceled buying power is not a withdraw, and not a sale
Official Check Your Balance + Can I sell early?
Official Check Your Balance: cash is money not tied to an open position; you can trade it or withdraw it, and withdrawals come only from cash. Official Orders & Trading: buying power is cash available to open new positions. After you cancel the open remainder, that reserved size is no longer sitting on the book. Official Can I sell early? is the opposite trade on a ticket you already own. Official US pages do not print a minutes-to-unlock clock. We will not invent one. A cancel is not a debit, ACH, or wire.

How to cancel that one order
-
Step 1
Confirm the row is still an open order — not a filled Yes/No
Official Glossary: an open order is waiting on the book; an open position is contracts you already hold. Official Orders & Trading: Filled means you have a position. If the clip already matched, cancel will not rewrite it — that exit is How to sell a Polymarket ticket early. If you only wanted to read the list, use How to read open orders. This page assumes unfilled size is still sitting.
-
Step 2
Open the market you posted, or Portfolio, on the desk you actually use
Official Limit Orders help (web): the resting clip sits just below the Order Book on that market’s page; across several markets, that page names Portfolio → Open orders. Official Website vs App: US residents trade in the Polymarket US app, not on polymarket.com. Official Place a Trade: open the Portfolio tab after you swipe. Official US Monitor Your Positions does not reprint the international “Open orders” tab — confirm the live screen instead of hunting for a header we invent.
-
Step 3
Find that one working row — then stop if it is the public book or a filled card
If public help or the live Portfolio / card shows an Open orders view, pick the single clip you meant. If the US app does not print that tab, look on the market you posted for size that is still waiting. Official Glossary: the order book is everyone else’s bids and asks. Your open order is one request on that book. Do not tap the public ladder as if it were yours. We will not invent a retail column those US pages do not print.
-
Step 4
Cancel that one unfilled remainder — use the live control on that row
Official Limit Orders help: cancel is the red x alongside the open order on that international market page. Official US Place a Trade does not reprint that control on the first-buy swipe. If the live US card shows Cancel, an x, or another remove control on the working-order row, use that live label. We will not invent a US button. Official Fee Schedule FAQ: a cancel is not a trading fee. Official Orders & Trading: after a cancel, the lifecycle name is Canceled. If the status is already Filled, you are holding a ticket, not an order.
-
Step 5
Leave the leftover, the fill, maker versus taker, and a price ping on their own pages
How leftover is labeled is How to read a partial fill. Who added size versus who lifted it is How to tell maker from taker. A price ping is How to set a price alert — turning one off does not pull size off the book. Changing price or size after a cancel is How to cancel or edit a Polymarket order. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose. Nothing here is investment advice.
This is not selling a fill — and not a price ping
Official Can I sell early? is the opposite trade on a ticket you already own. Official Orders & Trading: that is a position, not an order. If the row already matched, leave this page and use How to sell a Polymarket ticket early. This page will not walk bid versus ask, invent a US Edit button, or tell you a live last print.
Finding the list is How to read open orders on Polymarket. The middle state is How to read a partial fill on Polymarket. Who added size versus who lifted it is How to tell maker from taker. A banner you asked for is How to set a price alert — removing a ping does not cancel a resting clip. We do not clone those pages.
Blocked and contested states
Reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. If you are in a listed state, do not treat a working-order row as size you can still cancel. If you are in Florida or another green-light state, still confirm the list (or the clip on that market) appears and still accepts a cancel before you treat a remainder as yours.

What you will not get from this page
A dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, a live bid, ask, or leftover count, an invented US “Open orders” tab or Cancel chip the official US pages do not print, a cloned open-orders / partial-fill / maker-versus-taker / price-alert walkthrough, a newsletter form, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — an open order is unfilled size waiting on the book, canceling that one row pulls only leftover size, official international help names the clip below the Order Book and a red x, official US Place a Trade does not reprint that control so we describe the action, a cancel is not selling a filled position, this is not sportsbook or investment advice, and anything those public pages do not print is not a label or a number we invent.
