Who this page is for
US adults who already know they want an NFL Sunday position and now need to pick the product: a CFTC-regulated prediction-market contract on Polymarket, or a traditional sportsbook ticket at DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM. This is not the Week 1 checklist, not the Sunday slate, and not a second copy of how to read a contract, KYC, or deposits. Those pages are clocks and click paths. This page is the fork: contract versus odds. Polymarket is the only live outbound on this page.
Side by side
Qualitative only. We do not invent a vig, a live price, or a score. Confirm the live contract in-app and the live slip on the sportsbook.
| Dimension | Polymarket | Sportsbook |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A Yes/No event contract — a CFTC-regulated financial/derivatives product | A wager against the house — a state-licensed gambling product |
| What you buy | One side of a sentence. Yes or No. Settles at $1 or $0. | A bet at the posted moneyline, spread, or total. The slip is the bet. |
| Who sets the price | Other traders. The cent price is the market’s implied probability. | The book. The line is theirs to post, move, and shade. |
| How it grades | The resolution source printed on the contract. Not the book’s discretion. | The sportsbook’s house rules. Pushes, voids, and official rulings are theirs. |
| Age / frame | 18+ with KYC. Trading-risk disclosure. Not investment advice. | Usually 21+ where sports betting is licensed. 1-800-GAMBLER frame. |
| Welcome floor | No verified standing official US welcome match on Polymarket’s own terms. | Sportsbooks often run deposit or odds promos. We do not list those here. |
| This site’s hop | Live: /go/polymarket | None. DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM are named as foils only. |
Foils only · no sportsbook hop · no live price · confirm both products where you live
Contract vs odds
A sportsbook shows you odds. Minus money, plus money, a spread, a total. That number is the house’s offer. You take it or you shop another book. The juice is how the book gets paid for standing on the other side.
A prediction-market board shows you a cent price on a Yes/No sentence. Buy Yes at 60¢ and you paid 60¢ for a contract that settles at $1 if that sentence is true and $0 if it is not. The 60¢ is the market’s implied probability at that moment — not a line we reprint, and not a juice figure we invent. The book in-app is the book.
Sportsbook language does not paste onto the board. “Chiefs −3” is a house number. “Will this team win by more than 3.5?” is a different sentence, with a different resolution. How those ideas map — moneyline, spread, total — lives on the contract how-to. Read that ticket before you treat a Polymarket price as “the same bet.”
What you actually buy
On DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM you buy a wager. The sportsbook is the counterparty. If you win, they pay the posted odds. If you lose, they keep the stake. A push, a void, or a postponed-game rule is whatever that book’s house rules say.
On Polymarket you buy a contract. One side. Yes or No. Your maximum loss is what you paid for that side. Your maximum gain is $1 minus that cost. There is no lineup, no salary cap, and no deposit-match rollover protecting a floor. Other traders (and the exchange’s matching rules) sit on the other side — not a sportsbook trading desk shading a number to balance a liability book.
That is why this site keeps the desks separate. Event contracts are 18+ with a trading-risk disclosure. Sportsbooks and the DFS pages on this site use a 21+ (18+/19+ where legal) / 1-800-GAMBLER frame. If you also want NFL DFS, start at the picks hub — those rules do not carry over to contracts, and a sportsbook slip does not carry over either.
Resolution vs “the book sets the line”
A sportsbook sets the line. It can open a number, move it on news, and take the other side of your ticket. After the game, it grades against its own rules. You are not arguing with a printed resolution source on a CFTC contract. You are in the book’s house.
A Polymarket NFL contract names how it grades — usually an official league result or another source printed on the ticket. Overtime, a regular-season tie, a postponed game, and “winner of the game” versus “cover the number” are different rules. The source on the contract wins. The deadline / last-trade stamp on that same ticket is when trading ends. After it prints closed, you hold to settlement. You cannot “cash out” a contract the way some sportsbooks advertise a cash-out button.
We do not quote a live Polymarket price or a DraftKings / FanDuel / BetMGM line here. If the rules on the ticket are blank or you do not understand them, do not click. That walkthrough is the contract how-to, not this comparison.
KYC and blocked states
Both products will ask who you are. They do it for different regulators.
A US sportsbook is a state-licensed gambling operator. You pass identity checks and a geolocation check inside a state that issued that book a license. Availability is a state-by-state map — DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM each publish their own. We do not invent that map here.
Polymarket US is a CFTC-regulated on-ramp (QCEX). Official US docs require Know Your Customer checks before you can deposit or trade. Hold times are set by Polymarket, not by us. The click path is How to complete Polymarket KYC — this page does not repeat it.
Polymarket reported unavailable as of June 2026: Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Ohio. That list is not a promise it stays still — litigation around sports event contracts in particular can narrow or shift access. Florida is a green-light state. Sports markets are the most legally contested category anywhere, including in green-light states. A sportsbook that is open where you live does not mean the Polymarket NFL board is. Confirm the sports desk in-app before you send money.
Deposits
Sportsbook funding is whatever that operator lists — cards, bank, wallets — plus whatever promo the slip is attached to. We are not walking those rails here and we are not attaching a claim button to them.
Polymarket US funding is a separate conversion after KYC. Official docs list bank-linked rails (debit, ACH, wire) from an account in your own name. Instant buying power can appear before a debit or ACH fully clears. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. A publisher link is how this site is supported — it is not extra credit in your account. The sequence is How to deposit on Polymarket. Event contracts can settle at zero. Trade only what you can afford to lose.
Why this site’s live CTA is Polymarket
Because it is the only live money hop we have. Production serves
/go/polymarket. We do not invent
/go/draftkings, /go/fanduel, /go/betmgm,
Hard Rock, BetRivers, PrizePicks, Underdog, Betr, or Boom Fantasy hops to dress
this comparison up as a sportsbook affiliate page. Those programs are not live on
this desk. Naming
DraftKings,
FanDuel, and
BetMGM
as foils is editorial. The claim button is not.
Polymarket is also the product this NFL desk is built around: US access returned in December 2025 via the CFTC-licensed QCEX acquisition, with KYC and bank-linked funding — not the old offshore, no-KYC wallet route. That is the legal entrance for US residents on this site. We are not telling you the implied probability is a “better number” than a sportsbook. We do not publish either number. We are telling you which button is actually live, and which legal frame you are stepping into.
Compare other event-contract platforms — editorial only, no outbound claim — on the prediction-markets hub and the seasonal NFL Prediction Markets 2026 guide.
What you will not get from this page
A dollar welcome match, a paste-this promo code, live Polymarket prices, a DraftKings / FanDuel / BetMGM line, an invented score, or claim buttons for Kalshi, DraftKings, FanDuel, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock or BetRivers. We could not verify a standing official US welcome bonus on Polymarket’s own terms. Other publishers’ partner codes are theirs; we do not copy them. The honest user-facing line is still US access via CFTC-regulated QCEX — decide whether you want a contract or a sportsbook slip, then confirm the NFL board in-app. Last verified August 8, 2026.

Advertising disclosure: Polymarket links are affiliate links — we may earn a commission at no cost to you, which never affects our ratings. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Kalshi, Underdog, Sleeper, PrizePicks, Hard Rock and BetRivers have no live outbound claim on this page. Event contracts are CFTC-regulated financial products, not gambling. Trading involves risk and you can lose money, including your entire stake. Not investment advice. 18+.
